Updated Self-Training Regime

Here is my self-training regime updated. For those in Christchurch interested in private lessons, whilst the Honbu-dojo at CPIT and Tetsubukan dojo are closed (due to the earthquake), you are welcome at my home dojo. If interested, email your enquiries to: andre.mizuho@hotmail.co.jp.

KIHON

My latest self-training regime is focusing on the IJKA Shodan Examination kihon. These are as follows: (1) Sanbon-zuki; (2) Jodan age-uke kara mae-geri soshite chudan gyaku-zuki; (3) Chudan soto-uke kara yori ashi (kiba-dachi) yoko empi-uchi, uraken yokomawashi uchi soshite chudan gyaku-zuki; (4) Chudan shuto-uke (kokutsu-dachi) kara mae ashi mae-geri soshite nukite; (5) Chudan uchi-uke kara kizami-zuki soshite chudan gyaku-zuki; (6) Tenshin gyaku-zuki {Kaiten shinagara gedan-barai kara chudan gyaku-zuki}; (7) Ren-geri: Mae-geri kara mawashi-geri; (8) Mae-geri onaji ashi de yoko-kekomi; (9) Yoko-keage ashi o kaete yoko-kekomi (kiba-dachi); (10) Mawashi-geri; (11) Ushiro-geri; & (12) Shuto yokomawashi uchi kara shuto uchimawashi uchi. IMPACT TRAINING: A mix of tsukiwaza, uchiwaza & keriwaza focusing on explosiveness `off the mark'.

KATA:
I'm currently giving special attention to the Heian series & Kanku-Dai. In addition to these, Tekki-Shodan, Kibaken, Asai-ha Unsu (Kumo no te) & Bassai-Sho remain high on my agenda.

KUMITE:

Oyo-kumite with particular focus on the self-defence principles of Heian/Kankudai. This training ranges from our Asai-ha Shotokan-ryu 'Kihon oyo kumite' right through to 'Jiyu oyo kumite'.
